Originating in China, Lexi, also known as Haiying—denoting the illustrious Ocean—delves deep into her multifaceted upbringing in the transformative decades of the 80s and 90s. In a period defined by limited technological distractions and political constraints, Lexi’s formative years were imbued with authentic experiences, original narratives, and subtle expressions amidst a backdrop of cultural nuances.

Navigating a landscape of familial dichotomies, Lexi's childhood was marked by a complex tapestry of joy and melancholy. Raised within the confines of traditional gender roles, particularly through the lens of her mother's deeply ingrained biases, Lexi discovered early on the pursuit of perfection as a means of validation and acceptance. The duality of Lexi's existence is further epitomized by the turbulent memories of her father's past, scarred by unjust persecution during the tumultuous era of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Witnessing the trauma of familial discord and personal struggles, Lexi’s artistic inclinations—spanning visual arts, dance, and transformative makeup artistry—served as a lifeline amidst the shadows of adversity, offering a sanctuary of creative refuge and emotional release.

Transitioning through the throes of high school and college, Lexi tussled with the weight of depression, utilizing her artistic exploration across multiple forms—from paint to performance—as a coping mechanism to navigate the complexities of reality. Despite her initial reluctance to fully embrace her artistic calling, a pivotal move to Hawaii in 2010 catalyzed a transformative journey towards self-discovery and creative actualization.

In August 2023, the unforeseen diagnosis of stage 3 invasive breast cancer thrust Lexi into a fierce battle against a formidable adversary. Through the crucible of surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, her indomitable spirit emerged, fueled by a relentless determination to conquer adversity. Immersed in the therapeutic depths of her creative process, Lexi discovered a profound healing journey through art, transcending physical pain and emotional turmoil with every stroke of her brush. 

It seems as though the tapestry of Lexi’s life, woven with threads of challenge and resilience, had predestined her for the role of a healer, yet it was her encounter with cancer that deepened this calling. Harnessing her diverse skills in dance, art, and makeup, Lexi realized her purpose—to utilize her artistic power to uplift others. She dedicates herself to nurturing strength, courage, and beauty in others, helping them find hope in their difficult times. With every piece of art, dance teaching and performance, and transformative makeup and styling session, Lexi aims not just to heal but to empower others to thrive, proving that the darkest moments often lead to the most profound transformations.
